Quick (Coarse) Threaded Base Jacks

A quick threaded base jack is also called a coarse threaded base jack. They have an 8mm pitch, more expansive than the traditional 4TPI( four teeth per one inch – 6.35mm pitch ). It is a part of the European standard ringlock scaffolding system.

According to the shape of the threading, coarse threading is also called Round Shape threading, which is different from traditional ACME threading with a Trapezoidal Shape.

Quick threaded screw jack bases are newly designed scaffold screw jack bases by Layher Europe. They take more weight and are quicker scaffolding adjustments height in scaffold levelling.  Quick or coarse threaded scaffold screw jack bases are mainly used for Layher allround system and the Speedscaff frame system in the scaffolding industry. They are also called strong scaffold levelling feet or strong scaffolding base jacks.

Coarse threaded jack bases were started initially for ringlock; they can used for other scaffolds and systems like kwikstage, cuplock, quick lock, tube clamp system, etc., those scaffolds that with OD48.3mm scaffold vertical.

More than jack bases, the 8mm pitch coarse threading is used for U head jacks, scaffolding props and jacks in formwork and scaffold shoring.

Benefits of Using Coarse Threaded Scaffold Screw Jack Base

Faster Adjustment

Coarse threads (lower TPI) have larger, more widely spaced threads, which means they can be turned more quickly to adjust the height of the scaffold. This makes the setup and adjustment process faster, which is important when dealing with large scaffolding structures that need to be regularly adjusted or leveled.

Increased Load-Bearing Capacity

Coarse threads tend to be stronger and more durable due to their wider, deeper thread design. In a scaffold screw jack base, this strength is important because it can handle heavy loads, such as the weight of the scaffold structure itself, workers, and materials. The larger thread profile also helps distribute the load more evenly, reducing the chance of failure under pressure.

 Better Grip and Stability

The coarse threads provide a better grip between the screw jack and the base plate or the threaded section. This helps create a more stable connection, reducing the likelihood of slipping or shifting, which can be a safety concern in scaffolding. The thread profile also helps prevent binding or jamming when turning, making it easier to fine-tune the height and ensure the scaffold stays level.

Durability in Harsh Conditions

Coarse threads are often more resistant to wear and tear over time, especially in outdoor environments where scaffolding is exposed to dirt, moisture, and other harsh elements. The larger threads are less prone to stripping or rounding off compared to finer threads, meaning the screw jack base can last longer under repeated use.

Improved Resistance to Vibration

Because coarse threads provide a more robust connection, they are less likely to loosen or shift due to vibrations or dynamic forces. This is particularly important in construction environments where scaffolding might be subjected to vibration from nearby machinery, tools, or foot traffic.
