Scaffolding Prop Couplers
Prop couplers are scaffolding fittings that secure formwork props to scaffold tubes, making the props more stable for shoring and construction.
The prop couplers are of two types:
- 1) Prop Double Coupler (Bracing scaffold tubes and props at Right Angle)
- 2) Prop swivel coupler (Bracing scaffold tubes and props at any angle)
The prop coupler sizes are designed according to the prop and tube outer diameters, including 48/60mm, 48/76mm; 48/ 89mm and O.D60/60mm

Prop Couplers
Prop couplers are scaffolding clamps used to secure formwork props to scaffold tubes, thereby increasing stability, load capacity, and safety in shoring construction.
According to the formwork prop tube sizes, prop couplers come in different sizes and types.
- Acrow prop couplers O.D 48 x 60mm: Fixed O.D. 60 mm acrow prop outer tube to the 48.3nm scaffolding pipes.
- D35 to D55 prop couplers in size of O.D 48 x 76 mm: Used to fix heavy-duty D-class scaffold props with outer tube diameter O.D 76 mm
- Bridge leg (E35 to E55 post shore) couplers O.D. 48 x 89 mm: Fix scaffold tubes to bridge legs with a diameter of O.D. 89 mm or work for the E35 to E55 heavy-duty post shores.
Prop Bracing Double Coupler VS Swivel Coupler
Prop couplers include double prop couplers and swivel prop couplers.
- Double prop couplers are scaffold clamps that are fixed between the scaffold tube and props at a 90-degree (right) angle.
- Swivel props couplers are scaffolding clamps that are fixed between the scaffold tube and props at any angle, 360 degrees.
Ways to Stable Formwork Props In Construction
Formwork props are vertical single props, mainly adjustable, used to support the slab and beam during concrete forming and shoring.
To make the single standard vertical support stable, there are two solutions:
1) Use a prop tripod to set at the feet of the formwork props. Adding prop tripods can make the single shoring support stands more stable without tilting.
2) Use a scaffold tube to fix several props together to make the whole prop system strong, stable and aligned.
While the prop couplers are the fittings of the prop tube clamp system to fix scaffold tubes to the scaffolding props.
Drop Forged and Pressed Prop Coupler
According to different scaffolding standards, there are forged prop couplers and pressed steel prop couplers.
En74 standard prop couplers are mainly forged. They are forged from heated round bars, while pressed prop couplers are formed from steel plates.
JIS standard prop couplers are mainly formed from special steel plates.
