Steel Unit Beams VS Ladder Beams
Both unit beams and ladder beams are scaffolding bridging beams in construction. But ladder beams and unit beams are two different types of scaffold steel beams for four reasons:
- Steel unit beams are made of 4.0 mm-thick scaffold tubes, and ladder beams can be 3.2mm or 4.0mm thick.
- Steel unit beams have vertical and diagonal braces between the top and bottom chords; ladder beams have only vertical support.
- Steel unit beams are designed with four end plates with holes and two spigots; ladder beam ends are opened without the plates and spigots.
- Steel unit beams are commonly 6′ to 12′ long, while steel ladder beams are more commonly 5′ to 21′ long.
